#PublicPost - Are we really Jains?

Being a Jain, the first thing to know is who am I? What is the purpose of living and what is dharm? If everyone is recognized by the name, why is it referred to as BODY when dead? Just running to the temple and doing pratikaman or kriya is understood as dharm now a days, which is not.
We can spread awareness and take the baby steps towards being a true jain by doing the following activities:
1) So, we need a session on this basic question,'who am I and what is being a Jain?'
2) We are busy doing dharm while the Jain families in Vijayawada are striving and struggling hard for day to day life. We can help them.
3) Now a days, there is a good collection of funds in ashrams and at the same time, there are many old beggars on the streets and roads of Vijayawada who have no idea about the existence of these ashrams. We can help them rehabilitate in these ashrams. Most of us would not help those on the streets, but we prefer donating directly to the ashrams. By rehabilitating the street beggars, we will be effectively helping the ashrams utilize their funds as well.

Please share your suggestions in the comments below.

  1. Totally agree with the point of effective utilization of donated wealth.
    We could add:
    4) the amount of wastage and noise pollution that we are creating in the name of dharm and how these are directly and indirectly affecting us
    5) What is our current collective conscience as a jain society? Where is this leading us?
    6) Why have we started to indulge in self praise?

  2. Yes most Jainism is a vast subject and is the most ancient and the most scientific religions of the world We as Jains have not understood the depth of this religion bcoz it was served to us on a plATTER by birth As all other material things of the Universe we need to follow certain guide lines to this religion also but we as pompous as humans could be have always showcased some irrelevant and biased opinions and actions so as to lead this great Dharma to being questioned by othr religions and sects

  3. To make this event even more successful, we can take the help of Ajit Shekhar Maharaja Saheb ji, who is going to come for chowmasa. And let's do it in aradhana bhawan. M.S. would be good in dealing with this topic.

  4. JITO does not engage in religious activities. So engaging with any Maharajsa for our activities will not happen.
But we can call, scholars, historians and scientists....any of these who can hold the audiences attention and give us an objective view
